History
The Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly has played a central role in the state's democratic and political development. The first Assembly was formed in 1956 after the integration of the legislative assemblies of the constituent regions. The state has experienced governments led by the Indian National Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party and other political formations. Madhya Pradesh has also witnessed changes in government through elections and periods of political transition. The Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly has completed sixteen Assembly terms since the state's formation. The Sixteenth Legislative Assembly was constituted in December 2023. The state has traditionally been an important political centre in central India. Bhopal serves as the state capital and houses the Legislative Assembly and other major institutions of the state government.

Agriculture: Madhya Pradesh is one of India's major agricultural states and is an important producer of soybean, wheat, pulses, oilseeds and several horticultural crops. Industry: Madhya Pradesh has developed industrial sectors including automobiles, pharmaceuticals, textiles, food processing, engineering and manufacturing. Tourism: Madhya Pradesh has a rich tourism sector featuring Khajuraho, Sanchi, Bhimbetka, the forts and heritage sites of Gwalior and Mandu, national parks and wildlife reserves.
