PM Modi Turns 76 as BJP Launches Month-Long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned 76 on September 17, 2026, with political leaders and public figures extending birthday greetings. The day also marked the launch of a month-long BJP outreach programme, Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, which will run from September 17 to October 17.
The BJP has linked the campaign to Modi completing 25 years in public life. According to the party, his journey as head of a government began on October 7, 2001, when he became Chief Minister of Gujarat. The campaign is planned to include public outreach and service-oriented programmes across the country.
President Droupadi Murmu also extended birthday greetings to Modi. Her message referred to his 25 years as Chief Minister and Prime Minister and mentioned governance and inclusive development.
Several Union ministers, chief ministers and other political leaders also conveyed their greetings. The BJP has traditionally observed the Prime Minister's birthday as a day associated with public-service activities, and this year's programme has been expanded into a month-long campaign.
Alongside the birthday events, Modi inaugurated SEMICON India 2026 at Yashobhoomi in New Delhi on September 17. The three-day event brings together companies, policymakers, investors, researchers and other participants from the semiconductor and electronics sectors.
The Prime Minister's schedule also follows a semiconductor-focused roundtable held on September 16 with leading CEOs. The Prime Minister's Office said the meeting was part of discussions around India's semiconductor ecosystem.
The BJP's Seva Sankalp Abhiyan is expected to remain a significant part of the party's organisational activities through October 17. The programme combines public-service activities with outreach highlighting Modi's 25 years in public life. The Prime Minister’s political journey remains an important part of India’s Politics (opens in a new tab) and public life. The BJP’s nationwide activities highlight the role of Political Parties (opens in a new tab) in organising public outreach and service programmes. The birthday events and BJP campaign have also become part of the broader surrounding national political narratives.
