Punjab Politics Heats Up as Congress Targets Bhagwant Mann Government

Punjab Politics has entered another intense phase as the Congress party has stepped up its campaign against the Aam Aadmi Party government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. The opposition has raised questions over law and order, the drug menace and the overall functioning of the state government ahead of the next Punjab Assembly election.

Political War Intensifies Over Law and Order

Punjab Congress leaders and workers recently protested against what they described as a deteriorating law and order situation and the growing drug problem. The protesters attempted to march towards Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s official residence but were stopped by Chandigarh Police, which used water cannons to disperse the gathering.

Punjab Congress chief Amrinder Singh Raja Warring accused the AAP government of failing to control the situation in the state. Congress also attacked the government over borrowing and questioned its claims regarding improvements in education and governance.

The protest has added fresh momentum to the opposition campaign, with Congress attempting to turn public concerns over drugs and law and order into a major election issue.

Sachin Pilot Takes Aim at AAP Government

Congress has also intensified its political messaging through Sachin Pilot, who has recently been given responsibility for the party’s Punjab affairs. Pilot criticised the Bhagwant Mann government over what he described as administrative failures and poor handling of Punjab as a sensitive border state. He also raised concerns about attempts by radical elements to regain influence in the state.

The Congress leader’s intervention comes at an important time for the party as it prepares for the next election. Pilot has indicated that Congress intends to fight the election collectively rather than project a separate chief ministerial candidate at this stage.

Political Parties Prepare for Election Battle

The growing confrontation between AAP and Congress is likely to shape the political atmosphere in Punjab in the coming months. Bhagwant Mann has also attacked the Congress, BJP and Shiromani Akali Dal, accusing opposition parties of seeking power while presenting his government as focused on welfare, education, healthcare and employment.
