Political tensions in Punjab have intensified as Congress stepped up its attack on the Bhagwant Mann-led AAP government over the drug menace, law and order and governance concerns. The opposition campaign comes as Congress prepares for the upcoming Punjab Assembly election and Sachin Pilot takes charge of the party’s state affairs.

Punjab politics has taken a new turn after farmers called off a week-long protest following written assurances from the state government. The government agreed to convene a special Assembly session on interstate water agreements and address several agricultural demands, temporarily reducing tensions between farmers and the AAP administration.
